kraton kasunanan palace - Old Javanese palace by Touch of Europe

Kraton Surakarta Sultanate or the later better known as Kraton Surakarta has stood since hundreds of years ago. Kraton is a "successor" of the Islamic Mataram Kingdom. After changing the seat of government ranging from Kotagede, Pleret to Kartasura, yellow rebellion by ethnic Chinese Kratonnya forced Mataram to move to the village of Sala. Internal conflicts and Dutch intervention forced the empire was split into Surakarta and Yogyakarta Sultanate in 1755 through an agreement Giyanti. The journey begins from the north gate of the palace gate Gladag. Gate is guarded by two armed statues Dwarapala mace. Down the road shaded by banyan trees on either side, YogYES up in North Square. Like the typical style of an old urban, Kraton Surakarta is located in a complex with Square and Grand Mosque. A large open gazebo stands majestically right across the square, while the main palace building behind him. In the main building there is a museum which was once the office complex at the time Pakubowono X. The building is divided into 9 exhibition halls containing various kinds of objects and heirlooms heritage palace, to the folk art dioramas and a royal wedding ceremony complete with a variety of equipment.A narrow corridor connects the museum with the main palace complex. To respect the customs, we are not allowed to wear shorts, sandals, sunglasses and a sleeveless shirt. Slippers are removed and we have to walk barefoot on the sand court that was supposedly taken from the South Coast. Kecik Sapodilla tree that shaded the court made the air is always cool. In exegesis dhosok, the name of the tree is meant as a symbol which means Sarwo becik or well-paced. Of particular interest are the sculptures that adorned European castles resulting slick combination of ancient Javanese architecture with a touch of Europe. These statues are a gift from the Netherlands who had always had a very close relationship with Surakarta. A tall tower on the south courtyard called Stage Songgobuwono characterizes this palace. Not satisfied to explore the palace buildings, YogYES asked a rickshaw driver to drive around the entire palace complex. Sitting relaxed in a rickshaw through the streets in the palace to its own experience. Until Square South, were two old railroad cars parked there, the King and Railway excursion train bodies. However, these carriages are no longer functioning because the tracks have been many who turned into residential areas. On the side of the square to another, a herd of white buffalo known as Caucasians kebo Kyai Slamet looks fun grazing. Buffalos are considered sacred by the people of Solo and always paraded in a carnival procession sekatenan or night 1 Sura.
